The incident at Chennai airport sparked protests from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who alleged a security lapse on the part of the DMK government. However, officials from the electricity board clarified that the power disruption resulted from the disconnection of a high-tension (230KV) supply line from the grid.
