In response to the rising popularity of the work-from-home (WFH) culture, prominent IT companies in India, including Infosys, TCS, and Accenture, are strategically expanding their presence into Tier II and Tier III cities.

Infosys recently inaugurated a new office in Yelahanka, Karnataka, showcasing its commitment to adapting to the evolving work landscape. The move aims to promote flexibility and enable employees to work closer to their homes, aligning with the company's hybrid work model.

Following suit, TCS and Accenture have also recognized the advantages of establishing offices in Tier II and Tier III cities. TCS has successfully set up offices in cities like Bhubaneswar, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Nagpur, Indore, Varanasi, Gandhinagar, and others. Similarly, Accenture has expanded its reach to Jaipur and Coimbatore, tapping into a wider talent pool while providing employees with greater flexibility in choosing their work locations.

The WFH culture, which gained momentum during the pandemic, has influenced this strategic expansion. Many employees have chosen to relocate to their hometowns, and as organizations transition to a hybrid work model, there is a growing reluctance among employees to return to major cities. This shift in preferences has led to increased attrition rates as employees seek opportunities that offer flexibility and proximity to their homes.

Apart from catering to employee preferences, IT companies are also attracted to the cost advantages and improved infrastructure in Tier II and Tier III cities. These locations offer lower real estate and maintenance costs, making them economically viable for expansion. By establishing offices in these cities, IT companies can optimize expenses while accessing a diverse talent pool.
